Brakes are for stopping. Avid BB7s certainly do that. They have excellent pad adjustments on both sides. Commuting through salty roads is not an environment that you want to have hydralics. Magnesium and or aluminium caliper soon end up pitted with corrosion. Mechanical brakes are the unassuming, never complaining brake that just gets on and stops you in you tracks. And thats all we are asking for...
